Privacy policy
Plain language, short version: no accounts, no uploads, no stored videos, no selling of personal data.
Effective date: 29 October 2026 · Last updated: 29 October 2026
1. Who we are
PinGrab ("we", "us") is a free web tool that resolves public Pinterest links into direct media files. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@opterik.com.
2. What we process
| Data | Why | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| The Pinterest link you paste | To find the video or image on Pinterest | Sent to our API, held in memory for up to 30 minutes, not written to disk |
| Your IP address and basic request data (user agent, time, page) | To keep the service available, prevent abuse and rate-limit requests | Server logs of the hosting provider, kept for a short period |
| Recent downloads list | So you can reopen a pin you just used | Only in your browser's localStorage; cleared when you press "Clear" |
| Theme choice | Light or dark mode stays as you left it | Only in your browser's localStorage |
| Analytics and advertising data | To measure traffic and show ads | Google Analytics and Google AdSense (see section 5) |
We do not store the videos you download. The file is streamed from Pinterest's media servers through our API to your browser. We do not keep a copy, an account, your email address or a download history on the server.
3. Why we are allowed to process it
We process the pin link and technical data because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for. Server logs and rate limiting are used for our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and online. Analytics and advertising are used with your consent where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and the UK).
4. Cookies and local storage
- Essential local storage:
pingrab_theme(light/dark) andpingrab_history_v1(recent downloads). These stay on your device and are not sent to us. - Service worker cache: stores the site shell so the page can open faster or offline. It never caches API responses or videos.
- Google Analytics: sets cookies such as
_gato count visits. It is loaded on every page. - Google AdSense: when ads are enabled, Google and its partners may set cookies to show and measure ads. You can manage personalised ads in Google Ads Settings.
You can delete local storage at any time from your browser settings. Blocking cookies will not stop the downloader from working.
5. Third parties
- Pinterest - we fetch the public pin page and media from Pinterest's servers. Your request to us does not share your identity with Pinterest, but Pinterest sees our server's request. Pinterest's own privacy policy applies to them.
- Google - Analytics, Tag Manager/gtag and AdSense, as described above. Google's privacy policy applies.
- Hosting and CDN provider - processes requests on our behalf and keeps standard access logs.
We do not sell personal data. We do not share your pin links with anyone except Pinterest, which is required to fetch the file.
6. Retention
Pin metadata is cached in memory for up to 30 minutes and disappears on restart. Rate-limit counters are kept for 10 minutes. Hosting logs are kept for the period set by the hosting provider, normally a few days to a few weeks. Local storage on your device remains until you clear it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Because we do not keep accounts, most requests can be answered by clearing your browser storage and, for server logs, by contacting us with the date and time of your visit. Write to hello@opterik.com - we reply within 30 days.
If you are in the EEA or UK you can also complain to your local data protection authority. In India you can contact the Data Protection Board of India.
8. Children
PinGrab is not directed to children under 13 (or under the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
Our hosting provider and Google may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or an equivalent legal mechanism.
10. Security
The service is served over HTTPS. The API only fetches Pinterest hosts and only allows downloads from Pinterest media domains, which prevents it from being used as a general-purpose proxy. No system is perfect, but we keep the code small and the data collection minimal for exactly this reason.
11. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new effective date. Significant changes will be highlighted on the home page for a reasonable period.
